PROJECT TUON
Project Tuon is a collaboration with WoonHung, www.woonhung.co, a jewelry brand based in Singapore and built on the pillars of renewability, sustainability, cottage industry, and traditional craft. WoonHung can be bought on its own site and the Ship of Time store www.shipoftime.com, a Singapore-based boutique gift and lifestyle oasis.
Project Tuon focuses on the education of children. It is based on the belief that it takes a global village to raise a child, but the care of a local community is vital to nurturing the thought leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.
The mission of the project is to help raise the children of the Visayas region in the Philippines, with the support of tireless educators and a local and global community of caregivers and “parents” – some of whom had no choice but to leave their children, traveling many miles in search of work, and some of whom who have no children of their own, but work tirelessly as custodians of the earth and its living beings.
Sarang advises and assists WoonHung, and together with WoonHung donates proceeds from the sale of the jewelry line WoonHung Mia Series to the education and community development activities of Project Tuon, which include:
-
Building and enhancing school facilities
-
Collection of recycled learning materials and distribution to schools and learning centers
-
Operation of free learning support to supplement pre-school and elementary education
-
Community disaster and poverty relief
